The Play is written by Ted Johns – Directed by Cindy Aitken
It takes place during the early 80′s when interest rates reached an all time high-double digits. Agriculture that was not protected by supply management systems suffered greatly. Many farm operations went bankrupt. Lending institutions as well as government agencies had been urging farmers to expand. Aylmer Clark did not buy into the plan and kept on farming in the old way. Wayne, the son, has just returned from college full of ideas for his Father to expand. Conflicts follow between the two. As well, Aylmer’s wife, Rose, wants Aylmer to give up farming so they can enjoy retirement. Aylmer resists and decides to remain in his barn. The play is both touching and hilarious as the various struggles unfold.
