Owner Susan Bazant writes :
My husband Jerry and I first opened “Czech it Out” back in the early 1990s. . At that time we were
mainly importing fine crystal and jewellery from the Czech Republic. We added to that, collectable tin
toys and nostalgic games, linens and hand made items.
In 2001 we set out and did some travelling. We spent several years between living in our truck/camper
and our sailboat. We travelled coast to coast in Canada, as well as to the Yukon and the North West
Territories. We trailered our sailboat to Kitimat BC. then sailed to Alaska, and back down to the Queen
We then trailered the boat to Mexico and spent several winters sailing the Sea of Cortez. We camped
throughout the Baja Peninsula, Mainland Mexico, and Central America.
We also travelled to Europe to visit with family and friends, then on down to Australia after our
grandson Liam was born.
We have been back for a few years now, and have settled in Meaford. 4 years ago our 8 year old
granddaughter came to live with us. The next three years were very busy for us, getting back into
the school routine. Last year she returned to BC to her family and I, for the first time really had that
empty nest feeling.
I still had quite a lot of stock in storage and decided it would perhaps be a good time to open shop again.
I worked out of two other shops here in Meaford since last November.
Last month it was determined I needed more space, and I found a very good location over on 22 Nelson
Street,W. -next door to Eggcitement.
We opened shop here on November 1 st . We carry Antiques, Vintage, Collectables and (nostalgic) Toys.
There is also a good selection of Indigenous works of art. We carry Moose Antler carvings by Angus
Burns and are pleased to announce that we are the only shop you can purchase these from. Angus has
been carving for more than 47 years and is truly a gifted artist. We also carry wood slab paintings and
tables that he has done.
